COMMENT
Difficult to make out what's going on, as this is a Google translation. Having an additional news article (also translated) helps a little.
But I gather it goes something like this.
A group of Arab origin (ie Middle Easterners or North Africans of some description, one would think, rather than 'Arabs' per se. Think cultural Arabs. Possibly Muslims.), who have possibly been drinking (which they're not supposed to be doing, if they're Muslims), verbally abuse and brutally attack a couple of Mongols (24 and 25 year old) at the am Kloster Street train station, after striking out picking up willing women in a disco and being rebuffed by females they've tried to chat up at a public square: Alexanderplatz.
Somebody is verbally abused with 'Chinese shit', and it is presumably the Mongols.
During this brutal attack, Ganbaatar B., one of the two Mongols (and 25 years old), is knifed by Khaled M., 21 year old 'Arab', and left for dead on the railway tracks.
'Ganbaatar' is a Mongolian is a patronymic (ie a personal name, based on patrilineal name / male line name).
As there is four Middle Easterners in court (two for attempted murder), but the German authorities only provide their first names (the minor's name provided, being an assumed name):
- Khaled M. (21)
- Beka B. (19)
- Tarek M. (18)
- Maruf I. (16) (name changed)
What is extremely creepy is that these 'Arabs' who attacked and stabbed some unlucky Mongolian were prowling around looking for women.
So, when they couldn't find any females dumb enough to get involved, they took their 'frustration' out (or so the court story goes), on a couple of guys they probably sized up as suitably weak victims.
Merkel's Germany. What a delight.
Costs to German Taxpayer:
- Public disorder / affects community.
- Public danger / affects community.
- Police time & resources / + burnout costs.
- Other law enforcement authorities resources.
- Legal resources & expense.
- Medical expense.
- Medical rehabilitation expense (if any).
- Possibly state compensation to victims of public attack.
- Welfare for those unable to work due to injuries.
- Costs of provision for those in custody.
- Welfare provision for those released from custody.
- Costs of rehabilitating & employing the convicted.
Other
- Public: eg. fear etc., either witnessing or otherwise learning of event.
- Tourism: not exactly a great tourist promo.
- Business: Eventual devaluing effect on businesses in region & on real estate, with enough incidents of this kind.
*Burn-out costs to police (and other public services) need to be considered also.
If police and other services are dealing with this kind of mayhem, the results are bound to eventually include stressor costs that involve (a) psychological factors and costs (eg PTSD), and (b) therefore material consequences to taxpayer re police and other public services, in the long-run (eg. costs of absenteeism, sickness, transfer, resignation, retraining newbie replacements, paying out compensation, paying for treatment etc).
These are just potential costs, off the top of my head. But I think it's a good idea of what the costs to the community and to the taxpayer, associated with each and every incident the authorities must deal with.
